A message from Anthony…

“It has taken me awhile to put up this thank you message.  I made a point of trying to personally thank everybody who attended the event, at the event. Immediately  after the event I was going to write thank you notes, but I was (am) still having a lot of pain in both hands/wrists and I am still having quite a difficult time when I try to write (busted fingers, etc.).  I decided, for once, to avoid doing the painful thing; writing out well over one hundred thank you notes. Instead, I posted thank yous and photos on the various social networking sites and sent out another mass e-mail. I really thought that everybody had grown tired of hearing about me and my stuff. Then a friend of mine informed me she felt like I never thanked her, so now I am turning to the web-site, and sending out an e-mail again. I want to make sure everybody is aware of my gratitude.

In dealing with the multiple medical adventures I have been on, I have learned to focus on what I need to do for the next operation, or therapy ( instead of focusing on everything that still needs to be done).  Once I put the procedure behind me I focus on the next one, and so on….

I think I dealt with the fundraiser the same way. I worked on doing what I needed to do for the event and once it was over, I put it behind me and I chose to focus my attention on addressing the foot I dropped an amp on at the event (Only a bruised bone, yay!) and a sinus infection, and so on…

Nancy’s fundraiser raised almost $9700 and allowed me to relieve about 1/3 of my current medical debt.  It has lowered my monthly bills and the amount of interest that accrues every month. The event provided me with a much needed boost to my moral. Years of being in pain and the continual degradation of my body’s functionality had really been getting me down. All of the folks showing up with so much love really helped me more than I could say. It was absolutely beautiful.

I suppose all of the offered shots of tequila didn’t need to be accepted, but I did my best to consume all of them (I still have to put  funny stuff after the honest warm feelings stuff).

The main thing I did to express my appreciation at the event was to sing “I Get By With a Little Help From My Friends” (4/4 version like Ringo, not the Waltz timing of Joe). Singing is still a bit uncomfortable for me, plus I was mentally spun, and in a lot of pain after performing the first set, but singing that song from my heart to all of you really helped me center myself. I will post the video of the song. You can sort of see me on the far left in the background. I still hum the song now and again to remind me of all of the assistance I have received, and to remind me that I am not as isolated as I feel at times.  The word “little” in the title of the song is a massive understatement. I have received sooooo much assistance and help over the years, especially from Jude, my ex-wife. She has spent a substantial portion of her life over the last seven years taking care of me; well after the divorce was final.”
